Essex Children in Care Council (CiCC) has been shortlisted as a finalist in the National Children & Young People Awards 2026 in the prestigious "Biggest Impact (Team)" category.

The nomination recognises the incredible contribution that Essex CiCC makes in ensuring the voices of children in care and care leavers are heard, valued and acted upon. Through participation, co-production, peer support and system influence, CiCC continues to play a key role in improving services and outcomes for children and young people across Essex.

Being named a finalist is recognition of the dedication, commitment and passion shown by the young people and staff involved in the Children in Care Council. Together, they have influenced local and national practice, supported the development of services, contributed to workforce training, and created opportunities for children and young people to build confidence, friendships and a sense of belonging.

The judging day will take place virtually on 9 September 2026, where representatives from Essex CiCC will meet with the awards panel to discuss the impact of their work and the difference it has made to the lives of children and young people.

The winners will be announced at the National Children & Young People Awards ceremony, taking place at the ICC Birmingham on 22 October 2026.

Everyone involved with Essex CiCC is incredibly proud of this achievement. Reaching the finals is a testament to the power of young people's voices and the positive change that can happen when children and young people are given meaningful opportunities to influence the services that support them.

We would like to thank all the young people, volunteers, foster carers, social workers and partners who continue to support the work of the Children in Care Council. This recognition belongs to everyone who has contributed to making Essex a place where children in care and care leavers can thrive.

Congratulations to all our young people and colleagues on this fantastic achievement, and good luck at the judging day!
