13 to 17 years old
If you're 13-17 years old and in care in Essex, you can get involved in the Children in Care Council.
There are lots of opportunities for involvement and you choose what works for you.
The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child says "When adults are making decisions that affect children, children have the right to say what they think should happen and have their opinions taken into account."
By becoming a Change Maker you can:
- share your views with decision makers and Councillors.
- work on projects
- inform plans
- discuss areas for improvement within the service
Change Makers have already helped to deliver a fostering recruitment campaign and an 'all about me form' for foster carers.
Come along, build your skills and have a real impact on the way that services are delivered.
Change Makers meet every fortnight.

For more information please email Lee McDermid at firstname.lastname@example.org or call on 07824867612.
As an Inspired Trainer you'll be training the professionals including social workers and foster carers.
Training sessions are an opportunity for professionals to understand things from a young person's perspective. Trainers have also delivered sessions with other young people around Child Sexual Exploitation.
Come along and build on your personal development and decision making skills.
Come along, have fun, build your confidence and make new friends. You can share your experiences without judgement.
There are four opportunities to get involved each year and activities include drama, art, theatre trips and outdoor activities.
