Staying in touch with family and friends
While you're in care we will help you to stay in touch with family and friends wherever possible.
Your social worker will make a Contact Plan which says when and how this will happen. The plan could include seeing them face-to-face, making telephone calls or writing letters. This plan will be discussed with you at meetings with your social worker, at your Placement Planning meeting and in reviews.
Staying with friends
If you're invited to stay overnight at a friend’s house, you'll need to check with your foster carer or a member of staff where you live. If they're happy for you to stay over, they can give you permission. If they're not sure, they can ask your social worker about it.
If you're not allowed to stay at your friend's house, you should always be told the reasons why.
Read our contact information fact sheet for children or for young people.
